Adam took the Unicorn Anderson 180 Special Edition darts to the oche to see how they stack up as a more affordable Gary Anderson option. Built around a classic straight barrel with subtle tweaks, they’re not his exact match darts, but they keep that “Flying Scotsman” DNA: slim 90% tungsten profile, blue-and-white detailing, and a clean ring grip that feels familiar and unfussy in the hand.
On the barrel you get a mix of fine and wider rings, with blue electroplated grooves toward the rear and alternating silver and white-ring sections running down to a soft ball-nose front. The result is a layered grip that never feels overly sharp – more of a steady, confident hold than an aggressive “lock in” – and it suits a wide range of styles, especially straight, direct throwers who like the dart to sit neatly in the fingers.
On the board they fly as you’d expect from an Anderson-inspired setup: nice and straight, plenty of control, and easy grouping thanks to the slim 6.3–6.4mm barrel diameter. The Ultrafly flights and Gripper shafts keep things stable in the air, and once you’ve roughed up those factory-fresh points a bit, they feel like a proper match-night set rather than just a display piece.

Anderson 180 Special Edition Unicorn Darts
The first thing I noticed with these darts were that they had very shiny points and a slightly odd-shaped set of flights, so I'd start off by saying that it could be a good idea to rough the points up a bit before playing with them to reduce bounce-outs. On the whole, though, I think these are a lovely straight barreled dart that's, despite not being overly grippy, grip remained solid and steady. They flew nicely too which is what matters and for a player endorsed dart, the price is fair.
