Max took a closer look at the Mission Pheon darts, putting this newly launched straight-barrel design through its paces to see how Mission’s stepped radial grip and horizontal milling feel in real-world use. Out of the box they look every bit as premium as Mission intended: black and bronze Electro coating, sharp re-machined grooves and a clean straight profile that still manages to stand out thanks to the fine milling work running the full length of the barrel. They’re clearly aimed at players who like a traditional straight dart but want something with more texture, contrast and machining depth than a standard ring-grip model.
Mission describe the Pheon as a straight parallel barrel built around stepped radial grooves — deep cuts followed by shallower cuts to create a tiered grip effect — combined with horizontal milling that forms small “x” cross-shapes across the rings. The result is a barrel that feels familiar in shape but much more intricate in the fingers. The black and bronze Electro finish highlights the exposed tungsten where the re-machining cuts through, giving the barrel a striking two-tone look. Paired with Mission Grip Lock shafts and 100 micron flights included in the box, it’s a full player-style setup straight away.
On throw, Adam found the darts flew nicely with a steady, predictable line, scoring a 125, a very tight 100 and an 81 during his testing. He liked the purchase the dart gave him — enough grip to feel planted without being overly sharp — and the additional horizontal milling added a subtle extra texture that he really appreciated. A couple of snatched throws aside, the darts performed well, giving consistent feedback through the fingers and grouping cleanly in the treble. While he didn’t hit his absolute top numbers, he enjoyed throwing them and rated the grip positively.

Pheon Mission Darts
These darts have clearly had a lot of attention to detail go into the milling of them which, combined with the choice of coatings, makes it a really attractive set. I particularly liked the criss-cross grip on these which gave really nice purchase on the barrel and you knew that they were in your hand without being too aggressive. I also really enjoyed throwing them (despite not getting the best scores!) and thought that they flew really nicely. All in all, a great set of darts.
