The Mission Dead Shot darts are one of those barrels that instantly stand out because of the shape. They’ve got a long tapered nose, a scalloped midsection and a slightly rear-weighted feel, so they’re never going to be one of those “pick it up and it suits everyone” darts.
But if the shape matches your grip, they look like they could be absolutely superb. The review set was 25g, made from 95% tungsten, with a 48.5mm barrel and a fairly chunky 8mm maximum width, so even on paper these are a more specialist-feeling dart than a standard parallel barrel.
Gav found them difficult because of how far forward he holds the dart, especially with his fingers creeping onto the point, and he said he almost had to reposition every time he picked them up. Even so, he still managed a tidy 140 in the five-minute throw window, which says there’s definitely scoring potential there. Max, on the other hand, absolutely clicked with the shape. He loved that scallop because, unlike many scalloped darts, this one has micro ring grip inside the scallop, which gave him that extra bit of purchase and control. He felt the scallop was “just in the right place” for his grip, and that gave him some lovely grouping and a very good angle into the board.
The front section is interesting too. You’ve got a fairly long black coated point, then a long taper starting with a small smooth area before moving into a V-shaped ring grip. That front grip isn’t sharp or square-cut, but it’s still tactile enough for front grippers to feel what’s going on. The scallop in the middle is the star of the show though, because that micro ring grip adds much more bite than you usually get from a scalloped barrel. Then at the back there’s a taper down into the etched Mission logo, a short Sabre stem, and those metallic camo flights, which help complete the premium look. All of that gives the Dead Shot a distinct feel: not aggressive all over, but very positional. If you naturally sit in the scallop, this could feel brilliant; if you don’t, it’s probably one you’d want to try before buying. Your own review basically confirmed that — a really interesting dart, but one that depends heavily on whether the shape suits your throw.
Darts Corner list them at £54.95, with weights in 21g, 23g and 25g, they’re actually a lot more affordable than some other specialist-shaped 95% barrels on the market. That makes them a really tempting option if you’re the sort of player who likes to experiment with scallops and shaped barrels rather than just sticking to straight ring grips forever
The Review
Dead Shot Mission Darts
The Mission Dead Shot 95% Tungsten Bronze is a shaped, slightly rear-weighted dart built around a long taper and a grippy scallop. It’s not a one-size-fits-all barrel, but if the scallop lands in the right place for your grip, it looks like it could be superb.
