The Unicorn Hexium 3 is part of Unicorn’s 2026 Hexium range and it really leans into that modern “techy” look without going overboard.
In the hand, the dart feels like a proper tapered torpedo: a gentle bullnose into a long front taper, then a smoother mid-band and a more intricate hex-milled rear section. Up front you get a gold volute (grooved) point for extra grip in the board, feeding into alternating gold and black rings – the gold sections are slightly tapered while the black rings are more square-cut. It doesn’t look insanely aggressive, but when you run a finger down that front section there’s more bite than you’d expect, which is exactly where you sit on the dart.
The barrel is a comfortable 50 mm long with a max width of about 7.0 mm, so it has enough presence without feeling like a thick lump. Most of the practical grip lives on the front taper and the hex-milled rear, with only minimal texture in the middle, which suits front and rear grippers far more than true mid-grip players. On the board, Gav really clicked with them – the torpedo shape and front grip let him find a consistent hold and he put together a 121 and a very tidy 140 in the five-minute test, and you can hear he’d happily throw these longer term. Max, holding further back on the hex section, didn’t gel in the same way; despite the push point, his fingers didn’t feel like they were landing in quite the same spots each time, so he only scored them at 1.5/5 for overall grip.
Balance-wise, they’re nicely centre-weighted with a front and rear taper, so the dart wants to fly straight and “point first” without feeling nose-heavy. The gold/black contrast, hex milling and clear stems give the setup a really premium, modern look, and the extra machining and coatings do justify the higher price point compared with simpler straight barrels. If you’re a front or rear gripper who likes a tapered torpedo with moderate, controlled grip rather than a brutal cheese-grater, the Hexium 3 is a very tempting option.

A sleek tapered torpedo with modern hex-milled styling, the Unicorn Hexium 3 offers a comfortable, centre-weighted barrel with most of the real grip concentrated where it matters – right on the front taper and the rear push point. Gav loved how they felt and threw some strong scores, while Max never quite found a consistent release from the rear, which matches his low 1.5/5 grip rating. They’re available in 24g and 26g with a 90% tungsten barrel, and sit at the more premium end of the price range thanks to the gold point, dual-tone coating and detailed milling. A great fit for front and rear grippers who like a torpedo profile and a bit of class without overly aggressive grip.
