We got a properly eye-catching set on the table with the Shot Future Knights Darkstar darts, and before we even touched the barrels, the presentation had us interested. Max instantly loved the theme — that futuristic, Mandalorian-style knight artwork on the box really hits the sci-fi vibe, and it feels like Shot have leaned hard into the personality of this range. Our set is 90% tungsten, match weighted to 0.05g, and the packaging clearly places these as a premium, performance-led release with a strong identity.
Once we got them out, it was clear the story here is grip — and lots of it. The Darkstar comes with a long gold point and a torpedo-style, slightly front-weighted barrel, and Max talked through multiple grip zones that feel noticeably different depending on where you hold. The nose section has a “concealed shark” style effect with stepped ring sizing and added lateral grooves, giving a very assertive, confidence-building bite for players who like to lead from the front. Behind that, you’ve got smaller transition zones, then the main feature: the Keygrip-style faceted ring system with 45° peaks and lateral milling — a really intricate, high-effort cut pattern that feels built for control and repeatability.
At the board, we were honest about how that grip plays. Max said he doesn’t always do great with very grippy darts because he can start to pull them, and that was definitely the case here — he had to adjust and throw a little looser than normal. Even so, he still felt confident enough to run through the 2011 practice routine, finishing it in 10 darts, which he was happy with. The important point is that these don’t just look aggressive — they genuinely are — and if you’re the kind of player who likes to really push power through a defined grip point, the Darkstar gives you plenty of structure to lock into.
We also liked that Shot haven’t boxed this into one exact style of player. Max specifically called out that front, mid, and rear grippers should all find something usable here, because the grip changes and the push points keep the feel strong across the barrel. And unlike some releases that skip around the weight range, the Darkstar comes in 23g, 24g, and 25g, which gives a bit more flexibility to fine-tune without changing the shape dramatically.
Price-wise, in our video we said £79.95, and for the amount of machining and design work involved, Max felt that was excellent value. Some current listings show these at around £89.95, so you may see a bit of retailer variation depending on stock and promos. Either way, this is a premium, heavily engineered Shot set with a lot going on — and it looks every bit the part.

We really enjoyed unboxing and digging into the Shot Future Knights Darkstar. It’s a front-weighted, torpedo-style 90% tungsten dart with a genuinely complex multi-zone grip, led by a concealed-shark nose and a Keygrip-style faceted ring system. Max had to adjust his throw because of how aggressive it is, but still came away impressed by the quality, design, and the fact that there’s something here for front, mid, and rear grippers
